Since the beginning of the lockdown, education has taken a new turn as lecturers have now shifted from physical classes to online classes.
People have come online to express their joy in what has become a new normal and how they have coped. You can see these comments on Collected.Reviews.
The four walls of a classroom that used to be the space for learning have now been replaced with the walls of social media platforms where teachers interact with their students and give them education online.
Online education now looks like the future of education and here are six reasons why.
1. It is available at all levels:
Online education is available for everyone from preschool to advanced level degrees. You can get into any class from the comfort of your home. Parents can supervise their children’s education because they are present during classes. Also, students can learn at their own pace; if you do not understand a lesson, you can go over it till you understand before moving on. Whatever you wish to learn, there are limitless study materials online that can be of help.
2. It is flexible:
You can enroll in any school without having to acquire all the documents that are needed if you are enrolled for a live class. This is helpful especially for students in diaspora, they do not need to process a visa and other travel documents before they get into the class. It always allows you to learn when you are free which means you can have a job and still attend classes every day.
3. It is cheaper:
Whilst the tuition cost for online courses might be around the same price as that of live classes if you consider the overall cost (cost of transportation, food bought during recess, etc) of running a live program, you will realize that running a live class is way more expensive than online learning.
4. It allows everyone to learn:
Admission into live classes is usually regulated because the facilities in schools can only accommodate some people for effective learning however, online learning allows everyone to learn at once since the only space required is the online space which can accommodate everyone.
5. Unlimited resources:
Have you tried to find resources for an assignment? Were you surprised by the number of search results you got? This is one advantage of online learning; there is a wide range of resources that you can learn from, unlike a live class where you are limited to only materials available in the library.
6. You have a teacher:
When in an online class, you can get a tutor to mentor you as you progress in your learning. Online teaching brings you to your teacher even if you are in both ends of the world.
Online classes are a good thing however, you must know that live classes cannot be eradicated because some courses (medicine, engineering) require that you are there physically to perform class tasks.
